Hi, I'm Aleks, 

Mittens and Moods is my one-woman show!

By day, I work in projects and administration roles, and while I love my job, it's very structured and not  particularly sparkly. Mittens and Moods is my sparkly.

I started this business in October 2021 under the name AW Designs, selling online from a spare bedroom at home. In May 2025 I rebranded to Mittens and Moods - named after my two greatest sources of daily joy: Monty, my tuxedo cat with the cutest little white mitten markings on his paws, and Mork, my moody and very dramatic dog.

In March 2026 I moved out of the spare room at home and into my dream workspace - a beautiful converted chapel on the main street of Gordon, a small community near Ballarat in regional Victoria. 

It's a perfect space for Mittens and Moods and I've filled it with fairy lights, and sequins and colourful stickers!

But for all the sparkles and cat stickers, there is a serious side to Mittens and Moods. There is a lot happening in the world right now - politically, financially, emotionally. And on a personal level, so many of us are quietly carrying anxiety, exhaustion, and overwhelm. I believe that's a perfectly reasonable response to the world around us. It doesn't mean you've failed. It doesn't mean you need to do better.

I started Mittens and Moods because I wanted to create a community that feels like a safe space. Somewhere you can go to have a giggle at the little things that help us get through the day. Our  fur-babies being ridiculous, or a cosy hobby, or a sticker that says exactly what you were thinking but couldn't quite say out loud.
